It is important to note there are a couple prerequisites that must be setup or confirmed prior to creating units. There will need to be a Booking Type and Unit Group already created.
Creating Individual Units
Click the Booking module using the navigation panel on the left.
Click Settings at the menu ribbon at the top.
Select the Units tile.
Click Add New at the top right-hand corner.
You will be greeted with the unit creation screen. Fill out the form using the field table shown below.
Field | Function |
Name | Names the unit. |
Booking Type | The unit will fall under this category when created. For example, adding a hotel unit would be tied to the Hotel or accommodation booking type. |
Unit Group | Breaks the unit into groups. For example, adding a hotel room to a Pet-Friendly unit group. |
Description | Description of the unit. |
Map Caption | Does not apply in the Booking module. |
Owner | Owner of the unit. Used for commercial or owned units. |
Notes | Does not apply in the Booking module. |
Alert | Does not apply in the Booking module. |
Inactive Toggle | Can make the unit inactive for future bookings. |
Select Save and repeat for any others.
Creating Multiple Units at Once
When wanting to create more than 1 unit it would save time by generating them all at once.
Click the Booking module using the navigation panel on the left.
Click Settings at the menu ribbon at the top.
Select the Units tile.
Click Generate Units at the top right-hand corner.
You will be greeted with the unit generation screen. Fill out the form using the table below.
Field | Function |
Prefix | What the unit begins with for all generated units. Example- 3 new pontoon units could have Prefix = 'P-' and the units generated would be P-01, P-02, P-03. |
Starting Number | Where you want the numbering to start. Always use a zero in front of single digits like 01, 02, etc. since Sharper sorts these in alphanumeric order. |
Ending Number | Where you want the numbering to end. |
Suffix | Same as prefix, but just the suffix. Not used very often so no need to feel like you need to enter something here. |
Booking Type | Unit will fall under this category when created. For example, adding a hotel unit would be tied to the Hotel or Accommodations booking type. |
Unit Group | Breaks the unit into groups. For example, adding a hotel room to a Pet Friendly unit group. |
Description | Description for all units about to be generated. |
Map Caption | Does not apply in Booking module. |
Assigning New Units to Products
Now that we’ve created the units we need to go tie them to the product to be used.
Using the navigation pane at the top select Products.
Select the product that the unit should be assigned to.
On the left-hand side, select Units.
Make sure the new units that need to be assigned to this product are Checked.
Click the Save button.
You can technically create the units without there being a product yet. You will just not be able to tie the units until the product is created if it isn’t already.
