The POS (point of sale) Terminal allows businesses to easily apply automatic discounts for select customers and or employees at the checkout counter. To configure these automatic discounts, use these documents.
Once the automatic discount is configured, it can be applied in the POS Terminal. When at the checkout screen, change the customer to one that is eligible for the automatic discount. Then scan or select a product that has been set up as eligible for the discount. The POS Terminal will automatically detect the eligible customer and product, and apply the discount percentage accordingly without the cashier having to do anything further. The automatic discount will seamlessly deduct from the transaction total.
This guide will prove useful if you need to update existing POS discounts or create a new discount for future use in the POS.
Discount Setup
Please navigate to the left-hand navigation pane and select Accounting.
Select the More option from the top menu ribbon, and then choose Settings.
Click on the Discounts tile.
If you wish to update a discount, select the specific discount to access it.
If you need to create a new discount, click on the Add New button located at the top right-hand side.
Upon doing so, a form with various fields will be presented, each of which will be detailed in the table below.
Field | Description |
Name | Please specify the discount name that will be displayed on the POS terminal. |
Tax Code | Determines if this discount includes tax or not. |
Type | Fixed, percentage, or per quantity discount. |
Amount | Amount of the discount. |
Account | Account for the discount is tied to. |
Eligible Products | Specific products can be designated for the application of this discount. |
Automatic Discounts | Specific customers can be assigned to receive this discount when Eligible Products are rung up in the POS. For more information, please refer to Automatic POS Discounts. |
Inactive Toggle | Deactivates the discount. |
Click the Save button when you have completed the setup.
