After creating a Meta in System Settings, the Product Filter will give content to that Meta which can be assigned to specific products so that when a customer makes a change during the booking process that product will behave accordingly.
Meta creation can be viewed here: Meta Setup
Creating and Updating Product Filters
This section will include where to create or update your current product filters.
At the bottom left of the navigation pane select System Settings.
Click the Product Filters tile.
If you are updating a filter select that filter. If you are creating a new one select Add New in the top right.
After selecting Add New you will be greeted with a page of blank fields and drop-downs that will be explained in the table below.
|
|
Field | Function |
Name | Names the product filter |
Meta | Places the Meta created beforehand. |
Placeholder | If the Meta is an input or selection it will be the text inside the field before an input or selection is made. It is okay to leave this blank. |
Icon | Assigns an Icon to the filter the customer can see. |
Type | Based on the Meta setup, this field determines the type of input you wish the customer to use. |
Comparison | Based on the Type in the prior field, determines the operation in how the filter should behave when the customer provides an input. For example, a filter for a group of boats that allow a maximum of 10 people you would make this field Less Than or Equal To. With this and some other tweaks we could make any customer that enters ‘11’ make that group of vessels not be available to book. |
Options | If the Type is set to ‘Select’ or ‘Multi Select’ this will determine the options the customer can select. |
Sort Order | The lower the number the higher on the page the filter will physically load. It is okay to leave this blank. |
Assigning Product Filters
After creating the Product Filter it will need to be assigned to both the Booking Type and to specific products in order to be enabled or disabled depending on the logic used to set it up. Since Metas and Product Filters are setup in System Settings they can be assigned across all modules.
In a reservation based module select Settings using the menu at the top.
Click the Booking Types tile.
Select the Booking Type you wish to have this filter.
Once you are viewing the Booking Type there will be a multi select dropdown where you can select all of the filters you want to assign to it. Doing this will populate the online reservation page. At this point, since products have not been assigned, these filters will not do anything yet.
Next, using the menu at the top select Products.
Select the product that should have this filter applied.
On the left, select Booking Setup and scroll down to the Metas section.
Click Add New and type in the name of the Meta created beforehand.
The Value field works with the Comparison field. An example follows- A filter for maximum occupancy is created where the Comparison is set to ‘Less Than or Equal To’. The Type is set to ‘input’ so the customer can enter a number in this filter. The Value field determines the number in which the Comparison is activated. When this filter is applied to the product and a customer enters the input of ‘11’ then the product will not be available. Only when the input is Less Than or Equal To ‘10’ will the product show availability online. If you need further help regarding the logic of product filters please put in a ticket.
Save and repeat for any other booking types and products.
Testing Product Filters
Soon after assigning the filters it is a good idea to test the filters from the perspective of the customer via the reservation form.
In the reservation-based module used to assign filters select the Reservations at the menu in the top of the page.
In the top right select Add New. During training we use the drop-down for Advanced Reservations, but we are wanting the customer’s perspective so Add New is used.
On the left hand side there will be a list of filter(s) the customer is able to manipulate in order to narrow down boats or hotel rooms or camp sites. Pretend to be a customer to make sure the filters behave as intended. If you are having issues please put in a ticket.
